Teaching Artists Organized
Teaching Artists are hybrid professionals--artists and educators--who bring the arts to youth and families in schools, libraries and community settings during Art IS Education month and also throughout the year. Teaching Artists Organized is a local association of Teaching Artists that offers a directory to help find a teaching artist who can work with your school or library, low-cost workshops on how to bring the arts into our schools and communities, and the latest on arts education research. Alameda County Library & Art IS Education

In honor of Art IS Education month in March, Alameda County Library is presenting a series of over 100 free arts events for youth and families. Art IS Education is an annual celebration of youth arts learning is Alameda County, during National Arts Education Month. The Art IS Education theme this year is "Every Child is Creative: Together We Create Our World." Join the fun at the events, explore creative activities for the whole family, and be part of creating our world together!

Art IS Education Booklist & Project
This booklist includes many suggestions for continuing your explorations of the arts and the Art IS Education theme after attending Art IS Education arts events. The booklist includes ideas for great reads for preschoolers, early readers and children about about the arts and creativity.

Families and libraries are encouraged to use the Mandala Paper Quilt Project to explore and celebrate the Art IS Education 2013 theme “Every Child is Creative: Together We Create Our World:” The Mandala Quilt Project uses basic, traditional kirigami paper techniques for cutting and folding paper to create colorful quilt squares. Assembled together as a quilt, the squares create a collective image of our multi-faceted community. Each branch is presenting this workshop during March. In addition, families can use the project plan below to create the project at home.
