Auto-Renewal is Here!

Auto-Renewal is Here! There are plenty of things to worry about — renewing library materials shouldn’t be one of them. Find out what this means for you.

There are plenty of things to worry about — renewing library materials shouldn’t be one of them. That’s why we’re pleased to announce that starting today, we will begin to offer an automatic renewal service to all library cardholders. This service will automatically renew checked out books, DVDs and CDs that are eligible for renewal.

How Auto-Renewal works

Three (3) days before an item’s due date, your items will automatically renew unless:

  • The item is on hold for another member
  • The item has already been renewed twice
  • The item type is one for which we don’t offer renewals (this includes our Tech It Out laptops and Tech It Home WiFi hotspots)
  • There is an issue with your account that prevents item renewals (overdue items or an outstanding balance over $10, for example)

Your Courtesy Notice, which will still be sent three (3) days before the item’s original due date, will confirm whether your item was renewed or if it will need to be returned by the due date.

For how long will my items be renewed?

The new due date will be calculated in the same way as our current renewals: by adding another loan period (21 days for most items) to the original due date.

Can I still renew my items manually?

Yes, you will still be able to renew items on your own. The new due date will be calculated in the same way.

How many times will my items be automatically renewed?

Just as before, if your items remain eligible for renewal, they will be renewed twice.
