SimplyE the Library eReader App

 SimplyE is an app that gives Alameda County Library card holders one interface to browse, borrow, and read eBooks
The app brings together titles from our eBook providers, including Overdrive, cloudLibrary, RBdigital, and enki.

With one login and as few as 3 clicks, you can start discovering and reading our entire collection of nearly 100,000 eBooks.

With the SimplyE app you can:

  • Find eBooks in one place
  • Borrow eBooks instantly
  • Read eBooks on the app

You’ll need an Alameda County Library card to use SimplyE. You can get a library card at any branch library.

What's Available Through SimplyE?

SimplyE offers select eBooks and eAudiobooks from a number of our vendors.

EPUB eBooks are available from:

  • Overdrive
  • enki
  • cloudLibrary

eAudiobooks are available from:

  • RBdigital
  • cloudLibrary

SimplyE is still in development, with new features being added all the time.  At the moment, PDF eBooks are not available from any vendor, but plans for a PDF reader within the app are underway.  OverDrive eAudiobooks are also not yet available.

Current Technical Issues

We are currently experiencing difficulty with passes for the New York Times.  The vendor has been notified and the issue will be corrected shortly.  Thank you for your patience!

eResources Updates & Changes

Please note that, as of June 30, we have made the following changes to our eResources offerings:

  • We no longer subscribe to cloudLibrary.  We are in the process of moving the cloudLibrary collection to our OverDrive collection - they will be available by July 2.
  • We no longer subscribe to Universal Class.  We offer comparable content at Gale Presents: Udemy.
