Libby is now available in 10 languages!

To help further serve the needs of our diverse reading community, Libby’s user interface now supports 9 additional languages. All of the helpful information and guides (not the ebooks and audiobooks themselves) can be updated to your native language to simplify your experience. Browse collections, search for specific titles, get help, and more in the following languages:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • French (Canada)
  • Simplified Chinese
  • Traditional Chinese
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Russian
  • Swedish

If your device is set to one of these languages, Libby will automatically display in that language.

To support this upgrade and enable future feature development, Libby’s minimum Android operating system requirement has changed from version 4.4+ (KitKat, released in 2013) to version 5.0+ (Lollipop, released in 2014). This change affects Android devices that cannot upgrade to Android version 5 or higher.  Users with these older devices will see a message with options to either update their device's operating system, switch to a supported device, or access Libby in the device’s web browser. The iOS minimum requirement for Apple devices (iPhones and iPads) remains unchanged at 9.0+.

eResources Updates & Changes

We will be moving our RBdigital eMagazines to OverDrive, Flipster, and PressReader as of September 22, 2020.  RBdigital eMagazines will still be available until September 30.  Check out our Quick Start Guide for title lists and information about our eMagazine collections.

We will continue to offer Acorn TV and The Great Courses through the RBdigital app.

We will be moving our eAudiobooks from RBdigital to OverDrive on August 24.  After that date, look for the content you usually borrow at RBdigital in the Libby app and on the OverDrive site.  These items will still be available at SimplyE.

If you currently have an item checked out in the RBdigital app, it will be available through the remainder of the lending period, so you can finish your title without disruption or risk of losing your place in the book. Holds cannot be moved.

We will continue to offer Acorn TV and The Great Courses through the RBdigital app.

Please note that, as of August 1, we will make the following changes to our eResources offerings:

  • We will no longer subscribe to Freegal.  You will be able to check out streaming and downloadable music at hoopla Digital. Check out Freegal's FAQ page for information about downloads.
