Welcome to Alameda County Adult Educations and Literacy Services (ELS)

The Alameda County library’s award-winning Adult Education and Literacy Services (ELS), provides educational opportunities to adults who want to improve their literacy skills. By creating a supportive and vibrant learning community, we provide a safe environment for reading and writing practice where individuals take risks and grow toward leadership to make positive changes in their lives and communities. Students build strong literacy skills for work, family and lifelong learning.

The Adult Education and Literacy Services (ELS) is supported by grants from the California State Library’s Library Literacy Services, Alameda County Library Foundation, Y&H Soda Foundation, and generous donations by the L. Evan Bailey Jr. Family, The Alice Shaver Foundation and additional private funders. Thank for your support of adult literacy at the Alameda County Library.
